Understanding your needs is key to creating a prosthesis you can wear with confidence. When part of the face or hand is missing due to a birth difference, traumatic injury, or surgical treatment of disease, patients experience loss of function and quality of life. We specialize in clinical anaplastology, or reconstructive external facial and hand prosthetics. Our prosthetics are designed to improve function and normalize appearance. Our goal is to create confidence and a sense of wellbeing. We specialize in prostheses for the: ear (auricular), nose (nasal, midfacial, septal), eye (ocular, orbital, upper facial, hemifacial), finger, hand, and nipple. We also specialize in partial facial prostheses, complex facial prostheses, and custom protective faceguards.
Medical Art Resources is the first practice in Wisconsin devoted to state of the art facial and hand prosthetics. Our practice has grown and evolved, but our focus has never shifted–every decision we make is focused on our belief that every detail matters. Every detail matters to every patient.
Julie Jordan Brown recently created a facial prosthesis for film critic, Roger Ebert in collaboration with prosthetist David Rotter. Ebert’s jaw was removed due to cancer and he now lives cancer-free.
Reconstructive surgery was attempted, but unfortunately failed. David and Julie worked together to create a prosthesis that provides support and restores facial contour. Ebert’s prosthesis debuted on his new television program, Roger Ebert Presents At the Movies.
Ebert eloquently describes his experience in his Chicago Sun Times blog:
There's no substitute for confidence and security. A well-fitted, custom prosthesis made to match the individual details of your face or hand gives you that self-assurance. Our goal is to help you experience the sense of wellbeing that comes from restored appearance.
